Summer in the city 2013

So on the 16 of August 2013 my mum kindly drove me, Jess and her mum down to London and we stayed the weekend. Me and Jess were attending Summer In The City and our parents just came along so we weren't alone in London.

The journey down to London was actually better than I thought it would be. I thought we would be in the car for four hours. Oh how wrong I was, the car journey was only 2 hours long. There wasn't much traffic on the road. Although we did see an over turned car, and when I say over turned I mean it was on its roof and crushed, we didn't see any passengers or the driver but there was a police car and two ambulances  :( needless to say i was scared for the rest of the journey. But that was the only trouble we came across.

So when we arrived at our hotel we saw that it wasn't just a hotel on it own, there were a lot of restaurants ( cafe rouge,McDonald's, Pizza Hut and many more)  there was also types of activities to do there as well ( Hollywood bowling, vue cinema and a swimming baths). So we went a checked into the hotel and me and my mum went into one room and Jess and her mum went in the other room. Luckily the rooms had wifi so that was a bonus. Once we had settled into the hotel we went on a walk around and we decided to have a Pizza Hut for dinner.

Once we had our dinner, mum and Jess had a mcflurry from McDonald's and then we went back to mine and my mums room. Both our parents sat on the bed a had a glass of wine and a good gossip and me and Jess sat by the coffee table and made our books for summer in the city. We had printed out pictures of the YouTubers we hoped to meet and I went out a week before and brought notepads to stick the picture in and get signatures in hopefully. Around 10pm we all were pretty tired so Jess and her mum went back to their hotel room and me and my mum got changed and went to bed.

The next morning I was pretty excited to say the least. So we got up and got dressed and went down to breakfast and by this stage I was bursting with the excitement of meeting YouTubers! So after breakfast we went to get our bags for that we were taking with us. Then we made our way down to Alexandra Palace. Me and Jess walked ahead once we go there and we joined the wrong queue at the beginning. We were stood there and then thin guy came up to us and went "Is this the wristband queue?" And he pointed to his writ band. So me and Jess had to find the right queue and it was so long. It went down the side of the building, round the back and near the park round the back. We got there at 10:30 and we were in the queue until 11:45 ish and it was moving very slowly.

Once we finally made it near the doors our excitement was just too much. We had to get our bags checked and then we got our tickets scanned and got our wrist bands and then we got into the event. It was massive and so full of people. The first person we saw was Jason (Veeoneeye on YouTube) he was walking out of a room as we were walking in. We then went to Benjamin Cooks meet and greet and he is lovely.

On the Saturday we didn't really know what to do so we only went to one meet and greet but wemet so  many smaller youtubers just waking around we met:
Pete (petesjams)
Luke (lukeslovinglife)
Sam (samkingftw)
Cherry (cherrywallis)
Evan (evanedinger)
Darcy (darcyjcole)
Doug (Doug)
Steve (stevebooker)
Ben (benbrown)
Tom (tomlaywood)
Brad (mrbradcorey)
Marina (marinajoyce)
George (veguntold)
Oli (oliwhitetv)
Patty (pattywalters
Chai (mynameschai)
Sammy and niki (nikiandsammy)
Josh (jugginsjosh)
Dave (daveemons)

We also watched Emma Blackery perform as well as The Vamps perform so that was amazing as we had been to see the vamps the Friday before we traveled up to London (Friday 9th) and we were near the back so could see much but this time we got so close it was amazing.
And then it was unfortunately time to head back to the hotel for dinner. Every one we met that was so nice and so kind. And we got so many hugs :) when we got back to the hotel me and Jess were shattered to say the least. For dinner that night we just went to McDonald's, as we were just to tired to go any where else. After dinner we went back to our own hotel rooms.

On the Sunday morning  it was our last day in London and at Summer In The City, but this time we learnt from our mistakes and went to breakfast at 8 am and we were at Alexandra Palace at 9 am, and the queue was already long. But luckily it was separated into two and we got to join the slightly shorter one. In the queue me and Jess met so really lovely girls and we spent most of the day with them. (Niamh and Maisie)

Once we got into the building and went through the security again, Niamh went rushing off to get a place in the jack and finn meet and greet. So the three of us had to go and find her. We finally found her  and joined her in the queue. We were in the queue for just over an hour, then we were finally just about to meet Jack and Finn, I was shaking. Jess went up before me and she high-fived them. I wa next and I went up there shaking like mad and Jack said in a kind of worried voice "are you okay?" Like I was about to faint. I was to nervous to ask for a high five so I just got photos. And again like everyone else they are so so kind.

Next me and Jess went to find Marcus and Alfie's meet and greet, where was saw Niamh and Maisie we didn't know who they were queue for so we asked and it was Marcus and Alfie so me and Jess started to walk to the back of the queue when we got pulled back by Maisie and told to join them, which was so sweet and they honestly didn't have to do that at all. So after another hour of queuing we finally met Marcus and Alfie, this time I went before Jess so I wouldn't get nervous like before. Let me tell you they give the best hugs ever, and I felt so tiny compared to them. Marcus took my phone to take the pictures, he took a nice one of us all smiling and then a weird one of us pulling faces, they are so sweet and amazing. After Jess got her photo, I have to admit it we may have gone into a corner where no one was and we may have cried a little, it was just so amazing meeting the people you've watched on a screen and have inspired you to do so much stuff and you've finally met them in person. Words can not describe that feeling!

Whilst queuing for Marcus and Alfie I was asking Jess if after this we could go and fine Niki and Sammy again so I could ask for a twin photo as on the Saturday we did one of all four of us and them one with Sammy and one with Niki. And as I said this they were walking near us and they remembered me from the day before, and I got my twin photo and we stood and talked for a while again, which was so nice and they didn't have to.

As me and Jess were walking round to find people we say Gary C so we went and got a photo and an autograph and he asked for our names and he said "Diza that's a very Diva ish name" which made me laugh.

We then went on a walk around and Jess was tweeting Ollie Martin, as we wanted to get a photo. We were tweeting him on Saturday but never saw him before we had to leave so the Sunday was our last chance and we finally found him and we were very apologetic about tweeting him and never finding him, but he said it was fine and laughed when we said we didn't want to interrupt if he was with his friends. So we had a nice chat and go a photo and a drawing from him. And them we went and watched Tom Law perform and it was amazing, and he was laughing at us for saying "woo" when he asked a question.

We decided to go on one final walk before we had to leave to go home, we saw Carrie Fletcher selling her merchandise and we were going to queue up but there was a cut off point. So we just stood to the side as all I really wanted to do was give her a letter I had written to her and put my address in so she would reply to it and give advice. As she was waking off I went to her and handed the letter to her and she didn't have time for anything else. But I was so happy she took the letter.

We made one last walk round before we had to go home. We tried to stay in there for as long as we could as it had an amazing atmosphere and we really didn't want to leave. As we were leaving Craig was meeting people so we said we will met him before we leave, and again her gives amazing hugs. So we got our photo and then we had to leave :(

They travel home was very much like the one going there with the over turned car. But that's was it summer in the city was over :'(

It was the best weekend I had ever had and I was it never had to end. It was the first Summer In The City I had ever been to, so I didn't know what to expect or anything it was an amazing experience and I would love to go again next year which me and Jess have already said we will be going :D
